Thinking about your dream kitchen remodel for your current home? Or just want to change out a few cabinets? How about a fridge update? Before you get going on your creative daydream, be sure to remember some key tips below for executing a sure success of a remodel project.

The featured Chambers' project we're highlighting for these tips is our 2023 mobile home renovation project.

This kitchen needed a complete gutting and had little space for negotiating. The cabinets could not be saved as they were already salvaged and well worn.

The sink size was excellent but required much customization to squeeze in such a small space.

And as with any old home, some wall lines weren't perfectly square and that had to be accounted for when installing the countertops and backsplash.

Whatever you are choosing to remodel be sure to take into account how the space was put together.

Take note of how the sink sits from underneath by looking inside the cabinets.

  • Are there custom cuts for it to fit wider that the cabinet basin?

  • How many drainpipes are there and how do they connect?

  • Is there a dishwasher pipe cut through the side?

  • Note the water valve and drain placement locations inside the cabinet.

All of these factors benefit your buying wisdom when shopping for your perfect cabinet set.

Measure all cabinet sizes you want TWICE.

If you are unsure of sizing, home improvement stores like Home Depot and Lowe's offer free in-store consultations to help understand cabinet measurements, spacers, moldings and more.

Oven Size and Style Must Be Incorporated into Cabinet Measurements.

You absolutely love that oven down the kitchen aisle at your nearest home improvement store or on page 3 of your search browser, but of course it's the wrong size!

It can be a disheartening hunt for your dream oven, stove or microwave-combination, but never give up on finding your style!

Many manufacturers offer large, mid or small sized versions of a certain oven styles they design. Search around for a competitor brand offering a similar look that fits better into your kitchen space.

This gas stove oven was our favorite centerpiece to the clean white cabinet lines with its thick cast iron grates

floating atop its own crisp black, stainless-steel facade.

The oven style we chose was offered in two sizes at Home Depot. We selected the smaller option to fit into this neat and quaint cooking space with a matching hood finish to complete this refreshed look.

This kitchen was remodeled with the same footprint design but minor upgrades to open the counter space and gain deep drawer storage. The sink also required custom cuts in the cabinet basin for its catty-corner position. The design allows for a spacious and productive kitchen in a smaller home setting.

We removed the partial divider wall on the upper countertop to flow light and conversation across the back wall even when the host was attending to the dishes.

Adding stacked drawers to the left of the oven allows for a multitude of cooking utensil storage options.

REMODEL RECAP:

  • Note All Water/Drain Connections Beneath Cabinets.

  • Measure TWICE when designing your cabinet layout.

  • Account for cabinet sizes and width when purchasing the oven style you want.

  • Ask for help if you feel stuck.
